These are some of the lovely things which our guests have said about us

We are very proud of the warm welcome that we give to our guests.

A wonderful stay in a Country House

Our warm welcome from Desmond set the tone for our wonderful, but short stay at Glenlohane. Both Desmond and Melanie are perfect hosts and their son Gordon an excellent breakfast guest. The home itself, built in 1760, envelopes you in its style and warmth. The cosy study a perfect place to gather around the fire and chat, Desmond is a fount of knowledge and a wonderful storyteller. Melanie a great cook, and we eagerly awaited breakfast each morning. I can’t recommend this place highly enough.

My wife, myself, and my three children just stayed at Glenlohane, and we had a very charming and relaxing time that will be recorded in our family memories. We have been commenting during that latter leg of our trip in Ireland how much we enjoyed Glenlohane.

Desmond and Melonie were very pleasant and enjoyable to talk to about the history of the home and the quaint cottage we stayed in during our time. The location was great for us as we found it to be rather central to the various destinations we traveled to and from.

Further, Ireland has to be one of the most beautiful places we have seen among the ranks of New Zealand, and at the same time we felt like we were home away from home at Glenlohane. It is warm, cozy, and inviting.

I highly recommend Glenlohane to any and all travelers heading to Ireland.

Desmond, Melanie and Gordon are perfect hosts–happy to help with suggestions on things to do. Put your guidebooks aside and take their advice. They know this corner of the world and will give you access to the “real Ireland” that isn’t on the tourist routes.

We’ve stayed in lots of hotels and guest houses all over the world, and Glenlohane is among the most gracious we’ve encountered. They made our two weeks in Cork something we will remember always.

We spent a wonderful four nights at Glenlohane House. We were made to feel like part of the family and enjoyed beautifully cooked meals from Melanie and wonderful Irish breakfasts.

Desmond has a wealth of knowledge about the area and history of the house which isn’t surprising as they are the 10th generation living there.

Peace and quiet , blessed with good weather and three days wonderful golf and sight seeing, what more could one want

I have stayed at Glenlohane four times in as many months, which says it all! The delightful house is in a wonderful position, and Desmond and Melanie are the most welcoming hosts. They are also incredibly informative about the local area. There is no better way of imbibing the atmosphere of North Cork than by staying with Desmond and Melanie at Glenlohane…
